Chapter One : Arrival

Chapter One : Arrival

In a mystical world at the edges of imagination, where magic floated in the air like a gentle mist, the sun rose over a serene landscape. The wind, soft and refreshing, blew through the leaves of titanic trees, creating a supernatural melody that resonated in the air. The golden rays of the sun poured over a winding stream, whose crystalline waters sparkled like a myriad of liquid diamonds. Beyond the stream stretched a forest filled with plants of astounding diversity and size. Some reached prodigious heights, while others boasted bright and shimmering colors, creating a mosaic of vibrant hues. In the distance, through the labyrinth of branches, one could glimpse majestic creatures gliding gracefully in the sky, their shining wings capturing and reflecting the daylight.

On the other side of the stream lay a small open meadow, bathed in the soft morning light. Wildflowers of every color dotted the ground, their delicate petals bending slightly under the caress of the wind. Shimmering insects, with butterfly wings and surprising colors, flitted from flower to flower, contributing to the impression of perfect natural harmony.

In the heart of this enchanting clearing, a small black silhouette appeared suddenly and silently. Where there was nothing a second earlier, now stood a small creature. It was a rabbit, seeming tiny in this immense landscape. She had bright brown eyes and a coat as black and shiny as jet. Her little ears were perked, catching every sound, every movement in this new environment. Her round body tensed with surprise and fear, completely alien to this mystical place. The creature, visibly lost and terrified, remained motionless for a few minutes, observing her new surroundings.

"Where am I?" she thought, memories of the soft sofa under the sun returning in small waves. The air here was different, purer, but more demanding on her tired lungs. Every breath was a small victory, every inhalation a conscious effort. She finally began to move with extreme caution, taking a few hesitant steps. "Oh, for a bit of rest like before..." Her mind wandered back to the warmth of the human home, the reassuring feel of gentle hands stroking her, the familiar presence of the friendly dog and indifferent cats. The contrast with this world was striking.

She sniffed each unknown plant, every blade of grass, her little black nose trembling with each breath. "Everything is so big here... so foreign." A gigantic flower caught her attention, its bright petals vaguely reminding her of the colorful toys she played with in her youth.

Suddenly, a sharp sound echoed in the air. A branch fell near her, making her startle and dart away in a flash. "No noises like that in the living room," she thought, her heart pounding wildly. She desperately sought shelter, finding refuge under a huge flower with wide, welcoming petals. There, she curled up, her sides rising and falling rapidly as she tried to catch her breath. "If only I could go back... to the tranquility of my old life..." Her heart raced, each beat resounding in her ears, making her desire for safety even more urgent.

As time seemed to stretch infinitely, the little rabbit finally managed to calm herself and dared to peek out from her hiding spot, hoping to be dreaming and trying to hear her human’s voice calling her softly. "Dune," she would say melodiously, "my Du-dune," as she approached, gently lifting her out of her nightmare. But as her brown eyes cautiously surveyed the surroundings, a massive shadow moved silently in her direction. It was a colossal being, whose imposing silhouette covered the ground around it. For Dune, this terrifying sight was a nightmare in an unknown world. Her eyes widened with fear and she pressed even further under the flower, trying to become invisible.

The immense being, attracted by the noise Dune made as she moved and now detecting the erratic beating of her heart, approached her curiously. It exuded an aura of mystery and power. Dune, paralyzed by fear, watched as the immense shadow darkened her shelter with wide eyes. Her heart pounded wildly, and she could feel each pulse resonate through her frail body, making her even more noticeable. The dragon's huge head pushed aside the petals that hid her, creating an unexpected face-to-face, where Dune and the gigantic creature stared at each other, both surprised. The dragon paused, staring at her with piercing eyes, and for a moment, time seemed suspended.
